Call Day #33, 12/26/10

What do you do when there's a blizzard outside? Stay inside and watch Snow White! (She's been asking to go to Best Buy ever since she saw it there a month or more ago. Aunt Tara brought her copy to share--hooray!)

First time eating popcorn--she kept forgetting what it was called "Cornsticks?" I told her it's what people eat when they watch movies. "Do they drink lemon juice too?" she asked as she drank her drank lemonade (left over from yesterday's celebration of Jesus's birthday).

Watching with Uncle Brian and Aunt Tara.

Claire crawls around and almost manages to pull up on things.

Here she comes.

Close up view of the end of the movie.

Call Day #32, 12/23/10

While Erik is in the middle of a two month break from the usual Q4 call schedule, he has a few days of call to cover for others around Christmas. So, a few posts again!

Cupcake decorating at a friend's house. Note the pile of sprinkles on the cupcake.

Shannon holds Claire.

Bundled up for the snow.

Lila and Eleanor watch Stacy make a snowman.

There were lots of little girls running around enjoying the snow.

After walking back home, Eleanor had her first hot chocolate. She asked to drink it all the time.

Getting ready for bed. Can you tell that the left side of her face is all pink? That's where it hit the sidewalk on the way home. The lesson we talked about today: Don't run on snow.

Call Day #31, 11/25/10 Thanksgiving Edition

Erik and coworkers have Thanksgiving dinner. Erik was on "sick call" and went in to work to cover for someone who was out.

Watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade with the girls. Eleanor liked the big balloons best, and she saw the Sesame Street float.

Clapping along to a marching band and showing Claire how it works.

Kids playing on the bed while Mommy organizes their clothes closet. There are always outgrown clothes to move out--they just keep growing!

"Dancing for joy" before bed. When did she get so tall and thin?

Why Aren't You Posting?

Good question. It's true that posts should usually be every 4th day, since that is Erik's call schedule. Since he is on a rotation this month that involves working 8-12 hour shifts, he's not been on call. So, no "call pictures." We'll get back to more frequent posting in a month or so.

Call Day #30, 11/14/10

Reading the Bible and playing, a classic Sunday. :)

A visit to Daddy's hospital. Eleanor loves the gift shop.

Daddy and his girls

Nanny enjoys the train cart. Meals are delivered from the cafeteria to patients' rooms automatically. It even rides the elevator by itself! Choo-choo.

Happy Claire.

Call Day #29, 11/10/10

Reading before Daddy leaves for work

Hello everyone!

Papa feeds Claire

Yay! Nanny and Papa are here!

Post-nap hair

Crazy hair AND wearing two pairs of underwear, one backwards. Put her to bed with a diaper but she took it off and this is how I found her when she got up.

New princess shirt, skirt, socks, and shoes from Nanny and Papa. With surgical mask.

Call Day #28, 11/06/10

Playing with blocks while Claire slept. She wanted to make a trash truck. (Note: Sticker worn on her back "so Claire won't get it." Indeed, Claire does love to snatch stickers off.)

The workers on the trash truck? Nanny and Papa.

At Costco. She wore a "bow" (clip) in her hair for more than 5 minutes! She doesn't like her hair in her eyes. I sometimes see her trying to push it back with her hands (but it looks more like she's hitting herself on the head!).

Our first trip to see Daddy while on call.

Claire likes his badge.

Dinner at the hospital.

Call Day #27, 11/02/10

So cute in her hat. Waiting in line at the bank.

Eleanor looking at Claire's teeth. Kept them both happy for a while in a long line at the bank. (Not shown: Eleanor standing on the bank's coffee table to reach a brochure she wanted to look at.)

At CVS. Eleanor loves the card section--lots of favorites to spot. Cinderella, Elmo, Snoopy, etc.

She requested we go see the cow at the ice cream place. Though she thanked God for this cow daily after we first went there and eventually decided to see it today, she had said a few minutes earlier that she would "look at my shoes so I don't have to see the cow" while walking.

We voted. Eleanor was interested to see what voting was. I'm sure getting a sticker was the best part.

Claire's first trip to vote.

The Call Project

Erik's residency program has him on call at the hospital every fourth night. Since he's gone from home for 30ish hours each time, he had once asked for pictures of the girls and the things we do during the day. We've stuck with it since family has been enjoying it too. Perhaps a blog will provide a nice format for sharing our pictures? Welcome to our daily life here in Boston--the fun, the mudane. We've got at least three years of call schedules ahead of us. This is what we do with that time.
