Call Day #121, 9/27/12

Since Daddy didn't have to go to work until mid-day, we spent the morning at the park.  He tried to teach Eleanor how to move her legs to help herself swing.

Snack time.  Love the crossed ankles.

Eleanor tried out new climbing structures.  She was really good at it.

 Rock climbing.

Claire rocking on a bouncy dragon.

 Eleanor and Daddy bouncing together.

Daddy is the BEST spinner!
Eleanor at the top of the slide (as taken by Erik lying on the ground).

Sister sliding.

Claire tries to run and jump in a swing the way Eleanor does, but doesn't get too much momentum.

After nap, we did a little experiment.  Our book of the week is about ducks so we talked about how their feathers stay dry because they are oil-coated.  Eleanor wasn't so sure about dipping her fingers in oil at first.

Getting to use the spray bottle!  Comparing the oil-coated and non-coated feathers.

We tried comparing paper bags to watch the water bead up and soak in on them too.

And since she was enjoying the water bottle, why not let her help out?!  Cleaning spots off the kitchen floor.

Working on a puzzle.  (Nanny, note the tree pose!).

Call Day #120, 9/23/12

A normal start to the morning--Eleanor wants to do a project of some sort...

While Claire wants breakfast right away.

Then, they both want to play.

Claire emerges from nap with the cardboard box I accidentally left in her room.  She likes to get into anything extra left in her room and this was no exception.  She pulled off the packing tape and was wearing it as a hat while on her bed.

It was her favorite plaything til we left to go grocery shopping.

Getting a drink of water at water fountains is always a little exciting, but tricky when you're still little.  Eleanor tries to help out.

She can lift Claire up, just not high enough.  They had fun trying at least.

A stop at Target for new underwear after realizing just how small for her Eleanor's underwear was.  She was overwhelmed by all the choices.  So many fun characters!  She ended up with a pack of Hello Kitty and one of Ariel.

She had to check out each pair on the way home.  She was excited!

It was almost bedtime when we got home but she wanted to play with her Paris scene for a minute.  It was Sunday today so the people went to church at Notre Dame.  (Part of our book for the past week was set in Paris.)

Didn't take pictures at church, but this was her drawing during the service.  There's a hand with a nail hole like she's drawn before but this picture also has a dark sky, a cross, someone crying, and a tomb with a stone rolled away.  The whole Passion story in a drawing!

Call Day #119, 9/19/12

Goodbye hug for Daddy before he heads to work.

 Waving at the window.

It is really exciting when Daddy waves back!

Claire showing off the picture she took of Daddy leaving (on an old phone that doesn't work).

Filling up this chair a lot more than they used to.  Claire with a baby, of course.  She has been talking a LOT about the baby in her tummy, baby boy James.  (This is her favorite name after reading a book about a family having a new baby brother with that name).

We had to say goodbye to Grandpa and Grandma this morning and take them to the airport.

So glad they got to come!

Spent some time at the park this afternoon and both girls took turns playing with another child's lawn mower.  Like father, like daughters.  (If you don't know, Erik apparently went through several toy lawn mowers as a child because he liked them so much.)
