Call Day #131, 11/25/12

Saying goodbye as we dropped Daddy off at work.

Home and excited to be playing with the nativity set that just came out of the attic yesterday.  Eleanor's been asking about it for over a month.

Claire at church.  They were happy to be sitting with some of their friends during the service.

Excited about Eleanor's clean room.  They started a "surprise" in Eleanor's room before church and continued after we got home.  They were working together to clean it up, without having been asked!  I don't know what got into them but I was really proud of them.

Whenever we pick up everything off the floor, we celebrate its tidiness by running around in circles on it.  So, that's just what they did.

After nap they got to eat their leftover turkeys from Thanksgiving Day.

While we were finishing up Thanksgiving things, we made the Pilgrim hats we didn't get to the other day.

Then, we moved on to putting up the kids' nativities in their rooms.  They each get a new piece each year from Nanny and Papa.  Eleanor got a sheep to add to hers.

Claire with her new piece.

Call Day #130, 11/22/12

Hanging out with Daddy while he eats breakfast.  Took him to work since transit was on the less frequent holiday schedule.

After making a cake for dinner tonight, the girls started watching the Macy's parade.

Lunch and the end of the parade.

We read several books about Thanksgiving this week.  We did a few crafts too.  Eleanor copies the name "Mayflower" on to her boat.

 Claire's finished boat.

The Mayflower and the Speedwell.  One of our books said that there were actually two boats that left England and that the Speedwell couldn't make the trip because it was leaking.  So, instead of two Mayflowers, the smaller boat got renamed.

 Drying hair post-bath.

Claire gets tucked in with her friends.

Had to wake her to head to Thanksgiving at a friend's house.

Claire plays with a truck.  The family we celebrated Thanksgiving with has three boys.

Eleanor and Claire wait for their turns to play "basketball."

 Kids table.

Eleanor shows off the turkey made out of cookies, chocolate, and candy corn.  And a cut--caused by a light saber to the forehead.

It was a deep and jagged enough cut to warrant a trip to see Daddy.  As Daddy preps for stitching, Eleanor gets to play with his phone.

Claire didn't want to be left out of the picture-taking so here's one of her by request.

Watching as Daddy preps Eleanor's forehead with numbing medicine.

Post-stitches drawing on the dry erase board.

She was SUCH a trooper getting this done!  Held still, no crying--amazing.  We were impressed!

Ice cream from the vending machine for doing such a good job.

Enjoying her treat.

Entertaining herself by "jumping hurdles" in the empty cafeteria--there's not much activity at 9pm on Thanksgiving.  Tonight I was very thankful for the way our family works together, especially in unexpected moments like these.  So thankful for Erik, Eleanor, and Claire!
