Call Day #108, 6/21/12

Eleanor asked for something to do this morning and worked on writing some numbers for quite a while.  Thanks, Mr. Tim, for the book!  She's good with capital letters but we hadn't really worked on numbers or lower case letters before.

Not surprisingly, one of the morning activities was running around in circles.  They were doing "a jig."  You'll hear them debating who is faster.

We were invited to a friend's house for the afternoon to try to stay cool on this, the second really hot day of the summer.  Slip and slide was the activity for the afternoon but Claire seemed to prefer this ball.

She spent her time rolling around on it.

Eleanor tries to figure out the best way to slide.

Following Gus's example of sliding on the knees.

Running back up for another turn.

Waiting a turn.

Sliding!

It was also fun to just spray each other.

Claire didn't join in the fun until Eleanor asked her to go down with her while holding hands.

Holding hands all the way down.

They went together several times, and Claire wasn't afraid any more.

Sliding together.

After a few more slides, Claire was happy to make "bana bread" (banana bread) in the sandbox.

 More of sliding Eleanor.

A friend who was heading out of town gifted us their CSA share of vegetables for the week.  We went to go pick it up.

We're going to need some new recipes to use things we normally don't.

Like this.  We are definitely city girls and don't know what this thing is.

But we all laughed at how funny looking it is.

We had popsicles after dinner to help cool off.

After reading bedtime stories, it is time for a "roll hug," Eleanor and Claire's recent invention that must be executed before each nap and bedtime.

Yep, you lay down and roll around.

And there is some hugging too.
