Call Day #72, 9/26/11

At breakfast, Eleanor wanted to make her own oatmeal. This was quite a process. Here she is getting her own cinnamon from the spice rack.

And a measuring spoon.

When I asked Claire to pick a bowl, she said "Thomas" and chose this one. Didn't know she knew him already.

After breakfast, Eleanor wanted to put her things away by herself. This grew out of our talks about "serving" others and thinking about what would be helpful/make someone else happy. It has really resonated with her and she is proud when she can find a way to serve. It has been fun to watch.

As we left Bible study this morning, they stopped to pick flowers through the church fence.

At lunch, Claire ate lots of hummus. She mostly licks it off of carrot sticks rather than eating it on them. Then, she asked for more by name. Hummus, a new word today.

After nap, we wrapped a birthday present to our friend Gus. Eleanor wanted to choose the "flower" to put on top. Finally realized she meant the bow.

On the walk back from Gus's, we stopped to see the work the big trucks have been doing in the soon-to-be Whole Foods parking lot. Claire dubbed the huge pipe they had lain a "tunnel!"

Standing at the bus stop bench for a better view.

Taking the long way home to see moss, by Eleanor's request.

Packages with new books from Aunt Linda awaited us!

Almost bedtime.

Claire in her monkey jammies, Bible in hand. (Don't be too impressed by her choice of reading material--she really just wants to find the picture of the donkey.)
